Maduro: Imperialism fears plenipotentiary character of Constituent Assembly

Caracas, 22 Ago. AVN.- Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro said Tuesday that imperialism and its allies fear the plenipotentiary character of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) established by the Magna Carta.

He recalled that this character is granted by the original power of the people and their wisdom to make the transcendental decisions for the harmonious development of peace and tranquility of the nation.

Maduro ratified that the ANC is the greatest of the guarantees the people have to protect the sovereignty and independence of the nation.

Maduro’s statements are offered at a press conference with national and foreign media at the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas, where he said that the ANC “is the biggest guarantee for the Bolivarian Revolution to remain on the road to democracy, peace and freedom.”

“If there was no Constituent Assembly we might have been forced to take other paths, perhaps they would have forced us to take the path of arms to defend the right to sovereignty and continue to make the revolution,” he said.

The head of state recalled that the ANC is a plenipotentiary power that is above the existing powers.

He furtther said that in Venezuela, “we have a citizen, popular, non-partisan Constituent Assembly.”
